Can A Juice Cleanse Help Candida? The Answer May Surprise You
Let’s face it, juicing has become a phenomenon over the last few decades and continues gain traction with each passing year. Millions claim that juicing helps detox the body and can help heal various chronic disease in the body. Many believe that doing periodic juice cleanses can help remove waste from the body and restore health the lymphatic system.
However, what about candida? Is juicing good for candida? Also, what types of juices are best for candida?
These are all questions that get asked frequently by those suffering from candida overgrowth. However, the answer to these questions may surprise you.
In fact, in our experience, juicing not only is not required to get rid of candida, it can actually make a candida condition much worse.
With all the amazing claims surrounding the health benefits of juicing, you may be asking how something so beneficial could be bad for candida.
Luckily, we’ve got all the facts you need to know in order to make a decision on whether you should juice if you suffer from candida.
The Problem With Plant Foods | Anti-Nutrients
We’ve covered anti-nutrients before on this website, however, for those unaware, anti-nutrients occur naturally in all plant foods. These anti-nutrients help protect the plant from predators such as bugs, insects, and humans who may try and overeat of the species.
Unlike herbivores which have a stomach designed to handle large amounts of plant foods and anti-nutrients, the human stomach is extremely similar to that of canine. We do not have a rumen like a cow and do not have the correct bacteria to digest cellulose. As a result, humans have always naturally been hunters first, and gatherers second.
This can be seen through tribes all throughout the world which put a high emphasis on animal foods and treat plant foods as supplemental items. Also, it can be seen that plant foods are always prepared in a certain way to reduce anti-nutrient content. It should be mentioned that these people live completely off the land, yet naturally go after animal foods rather than plant foods.
When we ingest large amounts of anti-nutrients from plant foods, we naturally begin to strip away the mucosal lining of the intestines. The mucosal lining acts as a protective film and protects against inflammation in the gut. Unfortunately, plant foods, especially ones that are raw, can naturally contribute to intestinal inflammation and gut permeability.
Anti-Nutrients and Candida
Those with a candida overgrowth will be more sensitive to the anti-nutrients found in plant foods. This is because candida naturally increases the amount of intestinal inflammation in the body. In fact, candida has been known to burrow itself into the intestinal tract which can cause immense amounts of chronic intestinal inflammation.
Also, when in it’s fungal form, candida releases toxic byproducts and small amounts of alcohol which can damage the intestinal lining and cause inflammation.
All of this can leave the hosts digestive system in shambles and extremely sensitive to foods. In particular, raw plant foods can further irritate the intestines due their high amounts of anti-nutrients. It’s for this reason that raw vegan, vegan, or vegetarian diets are not recommend for those with a candida overgrowth.
Time and time again we have seen countless “plant based advocates” fall victim to poor digestive health and problematic fungal overgrowth’s.
The body simply was not designed to handle large amounts of plant foods. As mentioned before, our digestive system is extremely similar to that of canine. As a result, we do extremely well with animal foods, but must use special preparation methods in order to properly remove anti-nutrients and digest plants.
Juicing and Candida
Here is the thing; since juicing naturally removes fiber from vegetables and fruits, the anti-nutrient content will be much lower than that found in whole raw fruits and vegetables.
However, juicing primarily sugary fruits is disastrous for anyone dealing with a candida overgrowth. This is because sugar is the primary fuel source of candida. The sugar present in fruits (fructose) can allow candida to thrive and multiply in the body.
On the contrary, green vegetables contain no sugar and will not feed candida. That being said, there is always the issue of increasing intestinal inflammation and gut permeability when consuming high amounts of raw green juices.
The Only Green Juice We Recommend
If you want to consume green juice, we highly recommend you give Organifi Green Juice Powder a try. We like Organifi because all the of the ingredients have gone through a drying process which naturally reduces the amount of anti-nutrients. It also contains not gut irritating fiber and seems to be well tolerated in those with sensitive guts and candida.
Also, unlike most super food powders, Organifi contains no synthetic ingredients, is organic, and 100% natural. It also contains herbs which can help balance hormones and fight against candida. Organifi contains herbs such as ashwagandha which can help reduce stress and improve thyroid health. It also contains turmeric which has powerful anti-fungal and anti-candida properties.
In our opinion, Organifi Green Juice Powder contains more beneficial ingredients than that found in typically raw juices and seems to be well tolerated by most individuals.

The Importance of Quality Animal Foods
Instead of juicing, we highly recommend you focus your attention on high quality animal foods. In fact, we wrote a post on Why Animal Foods are Essential if you Suffer From Candida. If you haven’t done so already, be sure to check it out.
With that said animal foods contain all the necessary amino acids, vitamins, and minerals needed for both intestinal and bodily repair. It should be mentioned that animal foods do not contain anti-nutrients. As a result, they will not inflame and irritate the gut lining like plant foods are capable of.
Also, animal foods contain no sugar. They will not feed candida and are essentially the perfect anti-candida food. Foods such as bone broths and gelatinous cuts of meat can be excellent for repairing the gut and soothing intestinal inflammation.
In fact, once the gut is properly healed, many plant foods are typically much better tolerated. However, whenever consuming plant foods, always make sure to cook or steam them in order to reduce the amount of antinutrients. Eating raw vegetables is not recommended for anyone with intestinal inflammation and candida overgrowth.
